Pharmaceutical
Makes medicines, such as anti-cancer drugs and topical ointments, which are used to help people and treat disease.
Diagnostics
Make or perform tests to identify diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, and celiac disease. Diagnostic companies also make tests for specific hormones, chemicals, or materials, such as cholesterol or bile.
Research & Development
Provide services or products that help others develop new drugs, diagnostic tests, or devices. Also known as R&D, these life sciences companies and institutions may conduct a wide variety of activities from laboratory research to clinical trials involving humans to manufacture of products used by other researchers.
Biomedical Informatics
Use information technology (computers, software, and databases) to collect, manage, and analyze medical and biological data, such as genetic information and patient care histories.
